About Award

This Award aims to foster and assist an exceptional student who demonstrates remarkable talents extending beyond the traditional classroom setting, encompassing areas such as community service and extracurricular activities. Additionally, a recipient is expected to be active members of the community.

This award is specifically established to acknowledge students actively participating in a special education program for 60% or more of the school day. Eligibility criteria include qualification for the NYSAA, successful attainment of goals outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP), and fulfillment of requirements for completion, with plans to exit the district by June of the current year. District must be a current member of LIASEA. Completed Nomination Form (only completed forms will be considered) Recipients of this scholarship hail from Nassau and Suffolk County.

Submission Deadline: April 12, 2024

We are seeking nominations from our membership for the above. We ask that you review the criteria and fully complete a nomination form on the back of this letter, for a student to be considered.

Any incomplete or handwritten nomination form will not be considered. Please keep your entry limited to the space provided on this nomination form. Student selected will be invited to our annual awards ceremony. This year our ceremony will be on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury, NY. School personnel are encouraged to attend.

Nomination Criteria

  • Student must be exiting the District in June of the current academic year.
  • Student should have demonstrated involvement in extra-curricular activities.
  • Student should have demonstrated evidence of community involvement.
  • Completed Nomination Form (only completed forms will be considered).
  • District must be a current member of LIASEA.
